The Thermal Springs of Eftalou
The thermal springs of Eftalou are located just 4km outside of the town of Molyvos on the Northern coast of the island of Lesvos. The thermal spring is situated on the coast and the water composition is sodium chloride with a temperature between 43 - 46.5 oC, in other words they are hot !. It is recommended for the treatment of rheumatism, blood pressure problems, gallstones, neuralgia etc.
Next to the old domed bath building where the water flows, there is a two-storey building recently renovated. At the ground floor, the spa in operation has six private bat-tubs and a public bathing-pool, while on the top floor there is a three-room guesthouse.
A wide stone path runs from the road in Eftalou down to the newly renovated building and into the charming small courtyard garden outside which is blaze of colourful pot plants.
The renovated main building houses toilets, a small reception with very friendly and helpful staff and the modern tiled baths for up to two persons. You can hire these private bathrooms for a session recommended to last no more than 20 minutes due to the extreme heat of the natural spring water.
The original bath house is a real taste of history. There is an ambience and charm here that instinctively makes one calm. The bath house is entered from the gardens. The outer chamber has space enough to leave your belongings while venturing down the three steps into the inner chamber, shown on the right.
