Beaches and Hamlets of Plomari
Agios Isidoros
Agios Isidoros is a small hamlet located on the South of Lesvos.
It lies just 1km from the town of Plomari and about 1 hour driving time from Mytilini. This is where you will find the beautiful beach with clear, calm, shallow waters.
There are small cafe's, the walking is great and the sun bathing and snorkeling even better.
Melinta Beach(Melinda, Krifti Panayia)
The picturesque hamlet of Melinta is only 6 km away from the town of Plomari and epitomises the untouched and un-spoiled Lesvos. The area has not yet been affected by tourism and although it is visited by, and caters to a few who choose to stay there it has retained it's wonderful laid back away from it all atmosphere.
The name of Melinda comes from the latin word Milicia which means 'guard'. There is a rock here called the “the marble of Godjili” It is 10 metres high and it is said that the residents would climb to the top and stand guard over the settlement. People do dive from the rock into the sea, naturally it is wise to be careful.
Sometimes, in the summer months, you can take a boat from Melinda and go to Panayia Krifki (Hidden Mary), a church which is literally hidden from human sight. You will find it in a small bay next to warm natural water sources built inside a cave.
